Ministry to St. Francis House, Boston, MA

“As so often happens when you volunteer for something like this, we felt like we got more out of it than we gave.”

“As we left, we walked past one of the people we had served barely an hour ago as he was singing and humming to himself, resting on a park bench.  We exchanged smiles and knowing glances, realizing we were no longer strangers.  God's grace was all around us.”

St. Mark's parishioners may take part in a ministry to prepare and serve a midday meal to as many as 300 homeless people at St. Francis House shelter in downtown Boston.  These trips into Boston occur monthly, usually on Sundays when their need is the greatest, and require a minimum of six participants.  Many participants carpool from St. Mark's and venture into town together.
